Password Strength

What makes a password strong?  Good passwords use upper and lower case letters, numbers, symbols and are long.  The strongest passwords are not commonly used by other people, or reused by yourself.  Unfortunately, this combination of factors makes the best passwords hard to remember.  The passwords that Soteria Password generates fall in to this category.

Passwords are awarded strength points for

  • Using both upper and lower case letters
  • Using at least one number
  • Using at least one special character
  • Being at least 8 characters long; another point is awarded for being at least 10 characters long.
